Meet Katie

Katie Brower-Wojda is the artist and writer behind Parallel Threads, a project dedicated to exploring the connections between people, place, and craft. Her work centers on sashiko, a Japanese stitching tradition she studies both independently and through immersive experiences in Japan. Katie has trained with multiple sashiko and kogin teachers across Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and beyond, with a focus on respectfully understanding the cultural context behind the stitches. She brings this knowledge into her teaching, offering courses that blend technique, history, and creative exploration.

IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS

Learn the art of sashiko step by step — from first stitches to deeper practice. Parallel Threads courses are designed to welcome beginners and support continuing students, always with respect for the tradition and care for the process.

Workshops are offered as classes at a facility (availability varies), privately booked classes, and individual sessions.
